Sorry for the long absence, folks. I’ve been swamped and haven’t kept up with
the blog, although I’ve been nagging myself incessantly about it for a couple
of weeks. I’ve been busy with a middle
grade novel that has been calling me, although I’m not much past the research
part of it. Also, I have a rhyming
picture book that has been plaguing me for a while. I know what I want to do with it, but I
having a hard time wrapping the rhyme and meter around the plot. Finally, I have also been researching and
working on some interactive eBooks.
Factor in a day job and family, my free time is scarcer than hen’s
teeth. But I digress…
I was able to finish off a revision of one my prose
manuscripts though (yippee) and it’s been accepted by my publisher (whoo hoo!). It’s a sequel to my picture book, The Sister
Exchange. It’s called The Brother
Exchange and it’s a “boy book” version of my previous book. In this book, the characters are Evan and
Matthew. Evan wants to trade his brother
in at The Brother Exchange. However,
each “trade in” is worse than the one before.
Finally, Evan realizes how special his brother really is.
It took me over a year to write and revise it since
I received approval to do a sequel, but I think it’s a great book (even if I do
say so myself). Hopefully, the phenomenal
Kit Grady will lend her talents to this book as well. But it’s still too early to know the details
yet. I will definitely keep you posted
when I know more.
